‘Criminal Minds’ season 9 spoilers: The latest finale surprise
Next week, “Criminal Minds” is going to officially come to an end with a dramatic episode that carries with it the title of “Demons.” What’s going to happen in here? The biggest thing that we can say is that we have a surprise in the cliffhanger department.
Originally, it looked as though the show was going to have an epic cliffhanger that was brought on by the fact that the show was picked up early during its season. Now, we’re getting a slightly different story. Speaking to TVLine, showrunner Erica Messer confirmed that there is actually going to be no major cliffhanger between seasons 9 and 10, even though there will be a big one between the episodes “Angels” and “Demons”:
“The out of our first hour is so great, you really can’t top it … I wanted our team to be like, ‘OK, we survived that one. Now let’s get some rest.’ There’s no cliffhanger, I promise!”
Personally, we don’t really feel like cliffhangers are all that big of a deal at all, mostly because there can be a certain value to having more of an emotional end. If people love and enjoy your show, then there is really no reason to worry about whether or not viewers will come back. They will! Given that “Criminal Minds” has been around for nine years, there really should be nothing to worry about. This is a show that has a devoted audience, and they are there for both the characters and the mysteries. Plus, there was already a jaw-dropping shocker with the 100th episode earlier this season.
