‘Bates Motel’ season 3 spoilers: The plan for more Olivia Cooke’s Emma
Did you feel like “Bates Motel” needs a little bit more Emma to become an even better show? If you do, you’re certainly not alone. She is a personal favorite character, but there were moments during the season where it felt that she was given little to do other than question whether she was really a valued member of the Bates family.
The good news here is that there were times during the season finale Monday night where it started to feel like the character was starting to be allowed more into the world again, and that may pick up into season 3. All executive producer Kerry Ehrin is promising right now is that you are going to see so much more of the character. Just take a look at what she had to say to Entertainment Weekly:
“Again, this is sort of dictated by the characters, [but] it feels like Emma is going to be really seen by that family in order for her to not leave, she needs to become really a part of it in a real way, be more on the inside. How that will play out exactly – if that means a romance with her and Norman, her becoming closer to Norma – that isn’t nailed down yet, but definitely the idea of her becoming more of an intimate player with the family is on the table and it’s the right time for it. She’s great.”
So for those of you looking for more of a Norman / Emma love connection, it could happen next … but at the same time, is dating Norman really all that great of a move? It pretty much increases your odds of getting murdered at any moment. (Personally, we’re hoping that Emma’s eventual end here is finding a way to just get out of Dodge before something happens to her.)
