‘Bates Motel’ season 3: What we know now about Norman, show’s future
Tonight on A&E, the network will be saying goodbye to what is one of their most-acclaimed series “Bates Motel” … at least for now. The obvious good news is that the show has already been renewed for a third season, which is going to run for ten episodes starting again in the spring.
So what will the story be about? It is obviously hard to divulge too many details in advance of the finale, but one of the principal story lines is most likely going to be finding out whether or not Norman Bates is actually able to vindicate himself of Miss Watson’s death. If he is able to clear his name, then there is at least a tiny chance that things can go back to business as usual. However (and as we said), this is a pretty tiny chance. This is not meant to be a show that lasts forever. Rather, the goal here is to tell the tale of Norman over the course of a handful of small seasons, so there is nowhere to go other than evolve.
The real issues that the characters are going to have to face here are pretty simple. For Norma, it may be having to finally accept that there is something beyond comprehension wrong with her son. Meanwhile, Emma could finally start to learn a few things about what is happening at the motel, and start to realize that she wants to get away from here, as well (provided she survives the finale).
The biggest thing that Norman’s understanding about himself does, though, is show that nobody is safe. This may in turn lead to many characters starting to truly be distanced from him.
