2014 CMT Awards: Cassadee Pope, Carrie Underwood among nominees
When it comes to awards shows these days, alumni from singing competitions really do not get that much of an opportunity to see many contestants with singing-show connections. One of the major reasons for that is merely due to the fact that the majority of genres these days often do not embrace people who got their start on TV … but country is a big exception.
That is why we are pleased to see a number of names familiar to “American Idol” and “The Voice”nominated for 2014 CMT Awards. While Carrie Underwood and Cassadee Pope are the only two former contestants, you also have “Nashville Star” alum Miranda Lambert, “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton, and also Keith Urban from “American Idol.”

Clearly, Florida Georgia Line in particular has a ton to be excited about with these nominees, especially for a group that was an unknown not too long ago. But two nominations for Cassadee, who remains to date the most-popular winner of the show, is not too shabby.
