‘The Crimson Field’ episode 5 preview: Trouble for Grace; Oona Chaplin on season 2 confusion
Oona Chaplin has always been someone willing to speak her mind. We saw this on “Game of Thrones” where she played the character of Talisa Stark; now, we’re seeing it in related to the BBC’s “The Crimson Field.”
In a sense, we understand the confusion. This show has been a solid hit for the network, but for some reason has not been renewed yet for a second season. Here is what Chaplin specifically had to say on the subject in an interview with the Radio Times:
“I am sorry, but seven million viewers for The Crimson Field and the BBC still cannot tell us if we are recommissioned or not … The way these things are financed are so bloody complicated and ridiculous if you ask me. I am sure it must make sense for someone.”
For Chaplin, she is in an even more complication position that most as a part of the new FX pilot “Hoke.” If that show goes to series and if these two shows film at the same time, you can really expect to see her stay in America, thanks largely in part to the way TV contracts work there. Once you are a series regular, they really have a ton of control over what they do and say.
No matter what, let’s just hope that (“Game of Thrones” spoiler alert!) things end better for Oona’s characters on these two shows than they did on the HBO hit.
