‘True Blood’ season 7 spoilers: ‘Total Recall’ actor to play Mr. Gus
Is Mr. Gus going to top Gus Fring and Burton “Gus” Guster as the best TV character named Gus of the past ten years? That’s going to be a tall order. However, we still have confidence that this character will still stir up plenty of drama of his own on the upcoming seventh season of “True Blood.”
As we’ve previously reported, this is a guy capable of drawing up some plans for very bad things to happen, ans thanks to this, he’s villain material. He is a Japanese businessman living in Texas with a larger-than-life personality, and few manage to stand in his way. Specifically, he is going to be out for revenge for some sort as the season starts to pick up steam.
So who is going to be playing this man? According to Deadline, actor Will Yun Lee of “Total Recall” and the upcoming “Spy” has landed the recurring role. For TV fans, you know him better for a stint on “Hawaii Five-0.” Worried that this gig guarantees that he’ll be gone from CBS? Don’t be. With filming for the HBO show happening now and the crime procedural off for over two months, we see no reason why he couldn’t pick up both, especially since he doesn’t have to be in every “Hawaii Five-0” episode.
Another interesting question is whether or not Lee took on the role a while ago and the casting is being revealed now, or if he was just booked. The reason this matters is simple: Episode count. “True Blood” has been shooting the final season for a while now, and the latter would mean that he wouldn’t be a part of the earlier portion of it, most likely.
