NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ season 2, episode 10 video: A sneak peek and season 3 talk
Tomorrow night, you will have a brand-new episode of “Hannibal” to watch and enjoy, but hopefully not in the same horribly-creepy way that the title character does his dinners. “Naka-Choko” will further explore the tension between Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter, and much of that will culminate in another series of shocking scenes.
The video at the bottom of this article features a sneak peek of a particularly interesting dinner conversation between Will and Hannibal from “KTLA” in Los Angeles, and you just have to get through some banter to get to it. (Who knew that Hugh Dancy had such a special name? One of the actors seems to think so.) We’ll have a full review of the episode up after it airs at the link here. Our podcast (which typically happens on Saturdays) will be delayed until next week, but we will still open up the article for questions and comments.
Now, let us talk the future of the show itself. It’s consistently on the bubble thanks to its ratings, but the saving grace of it may once again be the quality. Based on what creator Bryan Fuller tells Digital Spy, there is still a nice shot at the show lasting:
“I hear very positive things … All of the creatives at NBC are so supportive of the show and want it back, and the schedules and salespeople are like, ‘It’s a new show, get rid of it’. We are banking on the creative people winning out over the salespeople.
“The ratings are not anything to jump up and down about, but the critical acclaim is great, and we’re sort of a prestige project for the network, so we’re hoping that’s enough, like it was last year. There have been indications that it will be.”
Personally, we agree with Fuller’s assertion for now. There are few other shows that NBC has in the Emmy discussion for drama save for James Spader on “The Blacklist,” so they really need this show to keep critics around. Plus, we still have a hard time imagining another show in this timeslot faring that much better.
