‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10, episode 22 review: Preston Burke, Cristina Yang front and center
You’ve been waiting for Thursday night’s “Grey’s Anatomy” episode for some time, and for good reason. Preston Burke was finally back in the world of the show, and his return may not have been what you expected.
For one, Isaiah Washington’s character was not trying to win Cristina back back as a romantic part of his life. He’s married now, and definitely happy with the life that he has. What we actually had here was more of a story regarding whether or not he was going to be satisfied with her not working with him. She is clearly sensational at her job, so of course Burke wants her around working.
This is where Sandra Oh once again showed how amazing she is as an actress. She rejected the job, and then proceeding to defiantly express just how badly she did not want the job. She claims that with Burke gone, she learned to stand on her own two feet.
In the end, we knew that Washington’s return was going to brief, but that it was a major twist here that we did not see coming. He decided to actually offer her the job that he has. He wants to go on and be with his family in Milan, and this gives her the opportunity to have everything that she could have ever asked for in her career. Suffice it to say, she has a major decision to make … and judging from the end of the episode, she already made it. She’s leaving.
Back in Seattle, April and Jackson tried to work through the aftermath of her big pregnancy reveal (he’s going to go to church with her!), Amelia has the opportunity to move to Seattle, and the interns all started to wonder whether or not some of them were going to be fired. This was, in total, one of the best “Grey’s Anatomy” episodes in some time. Grade: A-.
