‘The Good Wife’ season 5 spoilers: Will we see Gary Cole again?

There are few better TV guest stars out there than Gary Cole, who has done more shows over the past several years that we can list. However, Cole is in a pretty great situation now in that he is a regular on a show (in the awesome “Veep” over on HBO), and that makes him a little bit more difficult for other shows to snatch up again for series like “The Good Wife.”

It is why we are here today, discussing the question as to whether or not Gary could return this season as Diane’s husband. The answer here is … no. Sadly. It looks like “The Good Wife” will have to rely on its million or so other guest stars for a little while now.

Speaking in a new interview with E! News, Christine Baranski confirmed the news herself with the following message:

“Gary went off to shoot Veep, but that notwithstanding, for the rest of the season, what happened didn’t lend itself to seeing much of Diane’s personal life, but it always interests people. That relationship is interesting to people, that she’s with this guy, and he’s such a wonderful actor. I’m certain next season they will have him back when they can have him back.”

We feel like it’s close to a given that we will see Gary again on this show. It’s the sort of quality that if you’re an actor and you want to do a few gigs in your spare time, you’re going to choose it. The performances are great, and in addition to that, you continually have an opportunity to work with other people who are extremely seasoned and professional at what they do.
