‘Dancing with the Stars’ 18: Ricky Martin set to appear on Latin Night

HereWhat is with the tradition this season of guest judges on “Dancing with the Stars“? We’re still trying to figure that one out for many reasons. The positives of having these new faces around is that it gives you another reason to watch the show, and another perspective on the performances. However, the disadvantage to it is that it gives you another cook in a crowded kitchen, and disrupts the chemistry of the people who have been together for so many years.

At least tomorrow night’s new episode of the show is one that has an exciting air to it in Latin Night, and has a perfect guest judge in Ricky Martin. Ricky obviously knows Latin music, but he has done enough dance and stage work to know what a good performance is. Does he have the same sort of expertise that Bruno Tonioli, Len Goodman, or Carrie Ann Inaba at this point have on ballroom dancing? No, but he is a better choice that some of the other guest judges that the show has had this season. He’ll also be entertaining and fairly positive, at least based on where we have seen him elsewhere.

The biggest mystery for now is whether or not you are going to see Danica McKellar take to the ballroom and perform on the show. The actress broke her ribs during rehearsals this past week, and ever since that time has held her status close. This is what happens with the show every time there is an injury like this, and it ends up being used to boost ratings for the broadcast itself.
