‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: First look at Chris Colfer-written episode

Glee -Before “Glee” goes off the air for the season, there are a few more surprises that the show has in store for many of us … including an episode written by none other than series regular Chris Colfer.

Colfer’s episode is entitled “Old Dog, New Tricks,” and will air a week from Tuesday. As for the story of it, Rachel Berry is going to continue to try and figure out the best avenue for her future career, while we will continue to see Colfer’s own Kurt take on potentially a surprising gig in a “Peter Pan” production. For Kurt, we see this as a frustrating time. Tuesday night’s new episode “The Back-Up Plan” is going to feature Blaine landing a unique opportunity courtesy of Shirley MacLaine, and Kurt may suddenly feel like his life is starting to stand still as a result. This is at least a direction we can see the show going in, since these are the sort of real struggles that many couples go through when they are chasing their dreams in a new city.

In the long-term, though, the future of Kurt is much more unclear, and may not be fully realized until season 6. The writers have been somewhat coy about just what their vision may be, but we personally envision it to be somewhat similar to what we saw from “Parks and Recreation” during its recent finale. You could see a time jump of a substantial period of time, and then some reflection about what the glee club has meant to them, and how it shapes what could be the rest of their lives. At the end of the day, we feel like many fans want to see where the characters are headed even more so than how they got there.
