‘Mad Men’ season 7, episode 3 preview: First look at Christina Hendricks in ‘Field Trip’
On Sunday night’s new episode of “Mad Men,” we will have an episode in “Field Trip” that already looks to contain more good stuff for Joan. As a matter of fact, we’re starting to feel very good that this could be one of the best seasons for Christina Hendricks in some time.
When we first saw the premiere and noticed that her story was by and large just all about watching her be underestimated by men in her position, we were mostly sitting to ourselves thinking “here we go again.” The last thing that we can stand to see in a serial is the same story regurgitated time and time again. Luckily, this has built up into something that is much more substantial and interesting, as we have over time watched Joan find even more of her strength within the company.
Moving into “Field Trip,” she fianlyl has that office that she really deserved to have quite a while ago, and the mystery now comes down to how she will be treated with it. For at least the short-term, we expect this to go just as badly as you would expect when you have to deal with such unfortunate / awful things as sexism. But, there are people in SC&P who understand her strengths, and in time it might be realized that she is so valuable that it would be foolish to completely undermine her skill set thanks to injustices.
What do you think is coming from Joan on Sunday’s “Mad Men,” and do you think that she will eventually get all she deserves?
