‘Britain’s Got Talent’ preview: Meet the Innova Irish Dance Company

More news -We’ve made little secret of our disdain for dance groups on any version of the “Got Talent” franchise. Most of them are marginal at best, and the ceiling for most of these acts is that they will get to be a halftime act during a sporting event. It’s just hard to make money and stand out when you have so many people, and there are so many other groups in comparison to people wanting to hire you.

With all this being said, the Innova Irish Dance Company could at least be a team of dancers to watch. For one, they’re not just a dance team that is relying on the fact that they are kids or that they have some other sort of gimmick in order to blow people away. They seem capable of doing more traditional Irish dance, but they can also shake it up and do more modern routines, as well. “Britain’s Got Talent” has its first serious dance contender!

There is no doubting at all that this group will go through to the next round, but the real question here is mostly if they’ll get a golden buzzer and be put right through to the semifinals. Alesha Dixon does have experience in dance, after all. Personally, though, we’d save our buzzer for an act that we believed in that probably wouldn’t make it through otherwise. A great example of that is what David Walliams did last week with Christian Spridon, which to us still remains one of the single funniest things that we’ve ever seen on this show. David at least gets that this is a television show just as much as it is talent, and that having silly things can be great.
