‘The Newsroom’ season 3 spoilers: Meet one of the new characters
Given that season 3 of “The Newsroom” is only going to run for six episodes, we weren’t quite sure going into it that there was even going to be time to introduce any new characters. Luckily, we can at least say now that there is one face in particular that you will meet when the show comes on HBO.
According to TVLine, the show is casting a law professor named Jack, who is in his thirties and gets involved with some major discussions with at least one “News Night” producer while aboard a train. Potentially, the part could be a recurring one … but given that you’re only talking about six episodes, that’s hardly a long time to recur.
The obvious question here is if the character will become a love interest for someone on the show, since this is how many of them tend to end up meeting. After all, Jim met his previous love interest (played by Grace Gummer) aboard a Mitt Romney campaign bus. If you can find love in the world of political journalism, you can find love anywhere.
There will probably be some other new characters introduced over time, but we do have a hard time believing that the show is going to go overboard with new faces when there are only a handful of hours to ensure that everyone else gets the ending they deserve. Will and Mackenzie may already be married at the time season 3 starts depending on the time jump, but they still have a business / personal relationship to make work, and all of the other characters have their own loose ends.
