‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3 spoilers: First look at Snow White, Charming’s baby

“Once Upon a Time” has a habit of introducing new cast members, but it typically occurs via some sort of surprising revelation that they are still alive (see what happened with Neal), or related to someone without us previously being aware of it (see Zelena).

So to actually know ahead of time that Snow White and Prince Charming are having a child is a nice change of pace for the show. It enables us a chance actually prepare for it, and to be excited when the child comes. This moment will happen during the May 4 episode “Kansas,” which is certainly an interesting title given what we know about the storyline this spring already. The image of the Charming baby comes courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, and for fairy-tale characters, this all appears surprisingly normal.

Of course, there is a good bit more happening behind the scenes here than this picture would ever tell you. Snow and Charming have to protect their baby from Zelena, who is going to try to snatch like some evil … well, villain (go figure) in her attempt to cast a spell that will turn back the clocks enough for her to ensure that she had the life she always wanted. That means that effectively, a chain of events could occur that would keep Snow and Charming from ever being together. If something different happened to Princess Ava, she wouldn’t have marry Leopold and Snow may have never been born.

This episode also had to be particularly interesting for Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas to film, given that the two are expecting a child in real life later this year. The two also recently married in a small, private ceremony.
