‘The Tomorrow People’ episode 20 review: Who ‘died’ to destroy The Founder?
Perhaps we didn’t give “The Tomorrow People” enough credit for its last episode. While we don’t know if we want to eat our words in our last review about everything that we said, Monday night’s “A Sort of Homecoming” turned our opinion about the show around in a big way and brought us one of the best hours that it’s hard to date. Given that we near the finale, it really needed this more than ever. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)
Last week, our chief complaint was simply that this Hillary character seemed to be way too predictable, turning on Stephen to work with The Founder after getting close to him. It was a story thread as old as time, and you knew that the reveal would devastate him. Luckily, this is where some inventive storytelling came into play and gave us a reprieve from typical CW monotony. Hillary actually turned out to be a martyr! She did love Stephen, and in order to prove her regret for what she had done, she used Astrid in order to detonate a bomb that she had strapped to her in an effort to kill The Founder. It was the only way she could do so thanks to her lacking the capacity to do so herself.
But … did it really work? That’s the real issue, since the story for the season is not over yet. We would be shocked admittedly if The Founder is in fact gone, mostly because there will be main adversary unless the pendulum swings for Jedikiah again. As for if Hillary is actually dead, that obviously does leave Stephen in a vulnerable place … but we hope not one where he hooks up with someone else this season. His girlfriend will have just died a hero! Moving on too soon would be far too cheesy, even for a show that has tried to sell 26-year old Robbie Amell as a high school student.
Stephen’s father Roger returned as well this week, and he has proven himself to be a nice addition to the show so far … even if he does make that dinner table at his home a little crowded, and he has some serious catching up to do.
It’s hard to necessarily sit here and say that this episode of the show was necessarily perfect, since there were little things here and there (the Russell story) that need to be changed. But, it was a massive step up from last week, and we’re starting to feel good about the way this story ends, even if it is a series finale that airs next month. Grade: B.

This show keeps getting better and better. It’s a shame that Hillary sacrificed herself. I really like her character. She was strong female role and I liked her better then Cara. Hopefully she succeed in killing the founder because that would be an absolute shame for her to sacrifice herself for nothing. Plus it really would of been a perfect time for Stephan to stop time to save her from killing herself. So maybe he got to her in time. Also why didn’t Astrid call Stephan about what Hillary asked her to do. You think she would of had some concern on what Hillary was about to do based on what she was saying.

I thought it was good and I am glad Hillary blew herself up. I did not like her character. I hope they wrote a good finale, since I do not think the show is coming back next season.
