MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 4 spoilers: All about ‘Touched by an Angel’

“Awkward” premiered with an hour-long episode this past Tuesday that did a very vine job of setting up what could very well be the principal dynamic of the entire fourth season: Matty and Jenna’s relationship becoming somehow even more complicated than it has already been to date. We don’t know how quite that is possible, but the writers are quite the resourceful bunch!

The show’s trailers have teased as of late that you are going to get an opportunity to see Jenna and Matty take on a friends-with-benefits sort of role, which was explained for a little bit at the end of the premiere. Clearly, this is going to stay a part of the story for another episode or two. The show’s episode airing a week from Tuesday is entitled “Touched by an Angel,” and it’s not referring to that classic drama series. (As a matter of fact, it’s hard to really see anything that angelic about the show right now.)

The short synopsis via TV Guide may not be all that revealing, but a little bit of insight is still the majority of time better than no insight at all:

“Jenna gets upset with Matty when they try to be friends with benefits.”

If this is the entire story that lasts the rest of the season, then it is admittedly going to be very difficult to really get that deeply immersed in Jenna’s journey. If she wants more than that, then she deserves to find it. This is why we’re happy to report that there will for sure be at least something larger during the season, as Jenna could actually romance some prospective college guys as she gets closer to that life.
