‘Mad Men’ season 7, episode 2 preview: Could Peggy have a new love?
Tomorrow night, “Mad Men” returns to AMC with an episode entitled “A Day’s Work,” and this is one that is, in pure show tradition, by and large under wraps. Trying to find out many tangible details about this story right now is as difficult as it is with any episode of the series. It’s just not particularly in the network’s style to want to give very many of their secrets away.
But, we do at least have a few details now to get you a little more excited in what is coming up the rest of the way here, beginning with the following short synopsis:
“Peggy receives a bouquet of flowers at the office. Pete navigates the politics of new business. Joan is put in an impossibly awkward situation.”
1. Who could Peggy’s flowers be from? You do have to wonder if the story involving her and Ted is over. While he seemed to be very cold in front of her last week, acting as though nothing has ever happened, he does not seem to have moved on well. While Pete Campbell is extremely happy in his new environment, he is not.
2. When it comes to Pete’s business, the easy speculation is that he may be looking further at the idea of going it alone rather than staying employed by SC&P. He is certainly talented enough to make it happen, and the irony here is that we could see the student becoming the teacher and a desperate Don wanting to work with him.
3. Joan’s situation is the most ambiguous story, given that there were no real hints about what this situation could be other than her being so perpetually underestimated that men do not know how to handle her.
We’ll have our full review of this episode Sunday, so be sure to speculate in the comments below until then. Also, click here to listen to our most-recent “Mad Men” podcast, or here to sign up for additional updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
