‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10, episode 20 review: April / Jackson troubles; Cristina’s choice
As we get near the end of “Grey’s Anatomy” season 10, more and more big decisions are being made. This includes children, future plans, awards, romance, and people not getting enough sleep. How many times has this show been down that road already? The answer to that is “many.” They have been down that road many of times.
For Cristina, this story meant taking off to receive her Harper Avery award, and deciding that she didn’t want to have Owen go with her. This is a big move when it comes to her personal independence, and a chance from everything that she has seen and done to date. But then, she realized that she did need Owen for her big moment … but also Meredith. This was ultimately a nice moment that let her know that she had love in her life, but it didn’t have to come with a commitment.
As for the rest of the episode, Arizona pressed Callie to carry their next child, Alex still waffled over his future, and Derek took more responsibility when it came to caring for his children … despite all of the crazy things that he has going on in his life right now.
We are still waiting, though, for this season to deliver that moment that will really get us talking. Why are we having to wait until the finale for that? This episode was solid and introduced some great moments for characters, but there’s nothing that we are bouncing up and down to type on the page. At this point in the season, we just want more. The closest thing we had is the epic April / Jackson fight, but we all saw that coming at some point. Grade: C+.
