‘Survivor: Cagayan’ preview: Relentless hype for a big move
“Survivor: Cagayan” Wednesday night looks, at least per what CBS is putting out there, to be one of the craziest episodes to date. You have an alliance that is basically starting to crumble under its own weight, as you have people who are perhaps either starting to get comfortable to the point that they are nervous, or are starting to see some writing on the wall for their chances to win this game.
The three that look front and center for a potential shake-up are Tony, Woo, and LJ, who are all starting to realize that in this game, the strongest guys are most often the biggest threats. We’ve gotten the sense from previous previews that Tony is gunning to take out Woo, while Woo says here that he made need to make a move against someone (Tony?) before he is targeted himself.
The biggest winners in all this are the remaining members of the other alliance, who have to start feeling now like this season could turn into a different form of “Survivor: Tocantins.” If they just let this other group cannibalize itself for a few weeks, they could be sitting pretty.
While we are obviously an armchair quarterback here, we wonder why there is not more consideration given to the idea of all three of them actually teaming up for a while in at least a final 3 or 4 deal, and then ensuring that they all make it very far in the end. We understand wanting to make sure you can win there, but shouldn’t you be so confident in your own game that it doesn’t quite matter who you were with? This is something that Kim Spradlin exercised perfectly in “Survivor: One World,” in taking two people in Chelsea and Sabrina who were much bigger late-game threats than either Alicia or Christina.
All we will say to close this out is that if for some reason “Survivor” doesn’t feature any big moves at all Wednesday after all this hype, we will bring down the grading hammer! Seriously, the show really has us foaming at the mouth for something good to happen.
