‘NCIS’ season 11: How was Michael Weatherly’s ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’ gig?

The latest -NCIS” will be back with another new episode Tuesday night, but before we talk about that further (we’ll have a tease or two Monday), why not share some impressions from Michael Weatherly’s gig earlier in the weekend on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”.

We realize that first and foremost, there may be some out there who didn’t even realize that he was on the CW sketch show Friday. It could have used more promotion during the “NCIS” broadcast, most because we know that Michael’s a funny guy and this was a nice venue for that.

As with most special guests on the show, though, Michael didn’t get a ton of screen time in comparison to the series regulars … though if you watch the video here and skip to the 15-minute mark, you can see the highlight of the show in his “Helping Hands” appearance. The premise for this sketch for newcomers is that regulars Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles work together on a scene, but with Colin substituting Ryan’s arms for his own. Funny stuff. Michael participated with them in a bit all about someone being stopped by airport security, and we applaud him first of all for being game enough to go through with this … and then for also having fun with some of the random ways the show tried to skewer his character. He also had a few good comebacks in here in between laughs.

It’d be nice to see a few other “NCIS” cast members on here at some point in the future, mostly because it’s always great to see an actor show off other aspects of their skill set. Weatherly does occasionally get some funny lines on the show, but not like this.
