‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 7: Katey Sagal on ‘shocking’ circumstances, looking ahead

The latest -FX recently held its annual upfront presentation in New York City, and while there were many series that were addressed in-depth by John Landgraf and the team, one that was a little more hush-hush (and for good reason) was “Sons of Anarchy.” Given that it’s the final season, and the scripts are also still being written, nobody is too willing to say anything just yet.

One of these said people is star Katey Sagal, who told “Access Hollywood” at the premiere party for the new FX series “Fargo” (which happened, like the upfront, within the past several days) that she is still very much in the dark while also talking about how surprised she was to find out that Gemma was going to be the one to brutally murder her own daughter-in-law Tara:

“… I don’t know what’s going to happen … [The end of season 6 was] shocking. I knew in a big picture what was going to happen, but I didn’t know how it was going to happen.”

Sagal also dispelled the common internet rumor that her marriage to show creator Kurt Sutter somehow means that she has an advantage when it comes to getting early scripts, or finding out information long before the other cast members:

“I don’t read them in advance. A lot of people think I might because I’m connected, but I don’t read them in advance. I’m just as thrilled as everyone else is, but terrified. They’re thrilling and scary.”

Some of what is confirmed for season 7, including some returning guest stars, and be discovered over at the link here. The show will return most likely in September, and production begins later this spring. Even with their being so much ambiguity, we have a feeling that there will be more action, more bloodshed, and of course devastation for everyone at SAMCRO before Jax Teller’s story comes to a close. Regardless of whether he lives or dies, it’s not a stretch to believe that it is going to be ugly.
