‘EastEnders’ losing another actor; Patsy Palmer leaving show this fall
“EastEnders” has become one of the most iconic soaps in the entire world, even if it’s a show that most Americans have never seen a single second of. It may not be the easiest to find outside of the UK, but you’d be surprised at how much better it is than some of the ones currently airing in the United States.
Anyhow, we turn back now to the news of the day that Patsy Palmer is signing off from the series after being a part of the show in two separate stints. She first appeared on the show in the Bianca character all the way back in 1993, and she rejoined the show in 2008. Over the course of several years, she literally played this part in over 1,000 episodes of the soap. That is insane, no? It’s hard to imagine doing 1,000 episodes of anything, even with a nine-year break in between 1999 and 2008.
In a statement announcing her exit from the soap (which will take place in the fall), a spokesperson had the following to say:
“Patsy is really sad to be leaving the show as she loves playing Bianca and working with executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins but she knows it’s the right decision at this time in her life.”
This is not the only major exit for the show, as another actress recently announced that they will also be saying goodbye to the series in the future. We’d say that this is a big turnover, but as we just said, Palmer’s been around for more than 1,000 episodes. Cannot really fault her for wanting to do something new at this point.
