‘The Originals’ spoilers: What key character is being cast for finale?

For most of the season of “The Originals,” one question has remained on the tip of our tongue: Just how long can the CW series really prolong Hayley’s pregnancy? Had they waited for her to give birth until season 2, it would’ve been unrealistic and oh-so frustrating for us to be forced to wait that long.

Luckily, we’ve got proof that this isn’t happening. A casting call was put out there this week that the show is looking for a baby (or more likely, multiple babies) to play the young child in the season finale. As expect, the show is at least going to make you wait this long in order to see the child surface.

As for if this kid will really change Klaus, and force him to become an actually nice person for a change, it’s a complicated answer. Nobody wants to see the guy running around the streets of New Orleans giving out hugs and sharing pictures of his pride and joy from his wallet. Everyone loves him because he’s evil! Therefore, we imagine that the show is going to try to combine the best of both words, and have him be a complicated (but still doting) dad. This is new territory for the “Vampire Diaries” franchise as a whole: Most of the time, people have been far too focused on being good-looking and killing people to think about parenthood. How Julie Plec, Michael Narducci, and the writers handle this will be a major testament to the show’s maturity level. Given that you’re talking about characters who are older than dirt, you have to hope that they would be pretty mature by now.
