‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 5, episode 21 preview: ‘Three Hearts,’ Daniela Ruah hopes

Tonight’s “NCIS: Los Angeles” episode marked a great opportunity for us to see Daniela Ruah and her character of Kensi back with the team. Unfortunately, it also felt like the show was whistling in itself in a corner, waiting for someone to come and hang out with it. There wasn’t anything proactive at all until the final five minutes. (This is one of the reasons why we graded this one a C.)

There are many reasons for the next new episode to have promise. First and foremost, there is the fact that the title for this hour is “Three Hearts.” That at least suggests that something romantic could happen … it’s either that or the agents find three hearts somewhere, which seems pretty gruesome and better served for a “Hannibal” episode.

“When an undercover NCIS agent is suspected of working for the smuggler he’s supposed to be investigating, the team takes him into custody to find his true intentions. Meanwhile, Kensi and Deeks discuss their personal relationship as Kensi returns to the field.”

Hooray for good Daniela Ruah and Eric Christian Olsen material! Double hooray for them working together! Let’s just hope that this time around, we get more than a playful slug in the closing seconds of the show. The end of Ziva – Tony, not to bring up sad memories for some out there, perpetually has us worried about other couples in the “NCIS” franchise not getting the chance to have the TV relationship that many fans want.
