‘Bates Motel’ season 2, episode 7 preview: Freddie Highmore, ‘Presumed Innocent,’ and tests
Freddie Highmore gave another knockout performance on “Bates Motel” Monday night, and now, his character of Norman Bates is on the receiving end of some of what may be a turning point. Cody’s father had plenty of rage, and he unfortunately responded to that … which means that there is quite a predicament moving forward.
Anytime that you are dealing with an episode entitled “Presumed Innocent,” you can imagine that there is probably not much in the way of good things coming from the character. He has to find a way to cover this up, and also figure out whether his mother actually knows the origins of the blackouts. For two people who supposedly love each other, don’t these two tend to keep many secrets?
While the synopsis below may not be anywhere near as clear as the attached promo, you may still find a certain value in what it says (especially the part about Miss Watson’s murder coming back into the equation):
“Norma’s faith in Norman is questioned; Dylan is threatened by a revengeful Zane; Romero receives new evidence in the murder of Miss Watson; Cody and Norman’s friendship reaches the breaking point.”
There are only four episodes left in season 2, and given these short orders, A&E and executive producer Carlton Cuse are going to want to see some evolution in this Norman character at a pretty steady pace. So while they may want to keep some of his inner darkness buried save for a select few, you really have to wonder at this point just how long that it is going to last. Whenever he does become fully unhinged, though, at least we’ll have confidence it will be fantastic.
