TV Quick Hits: ‘Simpsons’ tribute David Letterman, ‘Covet Affairs’ season 5, ‘Chicago PD’ scoop
“The Simpsons” honor Letterman – There are few other programs out there that have the same sort of lifespan as David Letterman has in between “Late Night” and “The Late Show,” and one of them is “The Simpsons.” Therefore, you really cannot be that surprised that the Fox series has decided to pay tribute to the late-night legend.
In the “couch gag” video below, you can see the show honor Dave by including a video from a 2012 episode of the Simpsons visiting the “Late Show” set, and Letterman making a crack that he would make about flying them in for such a short TV moment. This is followed by a message of “we’ll miss you, Dave.”
“Power Rangers” star morphs into “Covert Affairs” – For anyone who grew up into the 90s, this is casting news that will be music to their ears. In a post on Twitter, Amy Jo Johnson (otherwise known as the Pink Ranger from the original “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers” series) confirmed that she is filming an arc on USA’s “Covert Affairs.” Details about her role are still under wraps, but based on her message, it sounds as though whe will be working with Christopher Gorham (Auggie).
The new season of “Covert Affairs” will premiere on USA this summer.
A “Chicago PD” finale message – “Death. Mayhem. Intrigue. Lindsay going down the tubes.” This is what Derek Hass, who co-created “Chicago Fire” and developed “Chicago PD,” said on Twitter when asked for scoop on the season finale. This may not be the most substantial bit of news out there, but it does at least confirm that the show is heading in an “epic” direction to close out what has been a very successful first season.
