‘The Following’ season 2, episode 12 video: Execs on Claire’s return, implications

As we near the end of “The Following” season 2, it’s a no-brainer that there are going to be many surprises. One of the biggest ones of all was seeing Claire (Natalie Zea) suddenly turn up again in Ryan Hardy’s world after such a substantial period of time away. He thought she was dead, only to instead learn that she’s been a part of the Witness Protection Program, and had seemingly got her own form of a get out of jail free card. She could go away, live her own life, and never have to think about any of this again.

However, this wasn’t enough for her for some reason. In the video below, the executive producers and star Kevin Bacon break down the circumstances of her return to Ryan’s universe, and how this could impact and shake up the remainder of the story.

There really isn’t that much of the show left, but some of the developments that you can expect are the continuation of Joe Carroll’s new cult, and Claire stepping in with her own plans and intentions. She wants to help to destroy Joe once and for all, but the problem with that is that it’s been a long time since Ryan knew her. He’s moved on with his life, and tries to figure out what sort of person he is. This is an enormous shock to his system, and he has to figure out how exactly he wants to handle that.

No matter what happens on “The Following” Monday, or the rest of the season, you can assume that it will be rather crazy.
