‘Agents of SHIELD’ spoilers: The aftermath of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’

After stumbling out of the gate, we have to give some major credit to Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” for trying something that we’re not quite sure has ever been done before in the world of TV. The recent release of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is going to tie greatly into the new episode Tuesday night, and we have video evidence of this very thing below.

First of all, are fans of the show who haven’t seen the movie going to really understand what is going on now? The show typically does a good job of being a separate entity from the movies, but still has many an Easter egg in it for longtime fans.

For those of you who haven’t seen the movie yet, you should know first and foremost that SHIELD is seemingly on the cusp of collapse, thanks largely in part to HYDRA and all of the dysfunction within it. The video features an attack on Garrett (Bill Paxton) right when he is in the middle of rocking out to “Don’t Fear the Reaper.” We gotta say: Garrett has some great taste in music.

Where does the story go now from here? Think along the lines of an epic battle within the SHIELD organization that will have to play out carefully through the end of the season. The one luxury that the show has right now is that there is not another edition in the “Avengers” franchise coming up for a while, and that was surely intentional. Also, it allows for an opportunity for Marvel to figure out if this show returns so that future stories can be woven appropriately.
