‘Mad Men’ season 7 spoilers: First look at Jon Hamm in premiere
AMC has a habit when it comes to giving off hints about “Mad Men“: Usually, they don’t bother with them and leave you in the dark. Notoriously, this is one of the most secretive shows on TV, and with good reason. The show is fantastic, and doesn’t need much to be teased.
So why are you getting something a little more out of the ordinary this time around? Well, let’s put it this way: The show always gives you promotional photos, but the reason why we are able to read more into this “Time Zones” photo is just because of the state of Don Draper when we last saw him. We knew him to be a guy who was clearly on his way down as he had seemingly lost his job, and his relationship with Megan was in a horrible place.
Maybe the photo is meant to be a little misleading, but Don appears to be happy. He’s got a giant smile on his face, and is dressed still like a professional guy going about his day-to-day life. Then again, one of the reasons for that could be that there is a time jump coming. This happens at the start of many “Mad Men” seasons, and for whatever reason, maybe Matthew Weiner feels like there is nothing particularly exciting about starting a new season off with Don in a bad place. They’d much rather see him back on the up and up, and this is why we see him like this.
One other possibility? They may just try to be showing Don fooling himself and others into thinking that he is in an okay place.
