NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5: Could Donald Glover ever return?

Big news -Season 5 of “Community” has been a great collection of episodes so far, and definitely has been worlds ahead of the “gas leak year” that we had on the show in early 2013. There is stronger comedy, better characters, and Dan Harmon back in the saddle with Chris McKenna to make sure that the entire ship runs smoothly.

However, we also have felt like not having Donald Glover on the is something that has been hard to swallow, much more so than Chevy Chase. Troy was one of those great TV characters who on the surface, looks like he kind-of has it together. However, underneath that facade is a layer of insanity that the more you unravel it, the more hilarious it becomes.

Speaking to E! News, you will be pleased to know that Harmon is not opposed to having the man otherwise known as Childish Gambino back at some point … but it won’t be this season. It’s his “hope” that Donald will return for season 6, which has to be ordered first before anything else can happen.

For the record, we do feel like a season 6 for the show will happen, even with the success of “About a Boy” and “Growing Up Fisher” making it a little more doubtful than it may have been a month or so ago. While the ratings aren’t great, the show scores well with young men (a tough demographic for many comedies), trends often on Twitter, and has a diehard following. Plus, being able to say that the show got six seasons is great from a marketing point of view.
