Just because the cast of “American Horror Story” knows what the theme of the new season is does not necessarily mean that they know who they will be playing. This is at least what we have learned now from one of the stars of the upcoming “Freak Show” in Angela Bassett. She was in attendance for the show’s PaleyFest panel that included the announcement of Michael Chiklis joining the show, but there is still nothing on her role.
All Bassett could really say when discussing this subject to E! News was the basic premise of the show, primarily through the lens of Jessica Lange and what her character does in this world:
“[Lange’s character has] rescued all these different individuals. It’s the end of that era, of the freak show, and we’ll do anything to keep our business going.”
We personally feel as though the chief operating word in here is anything, given that this means such a wide variety of different things. It can mean that they end up killing people and using the bodies for some grotesque part of the show; given that this is a “horror story,” do you really think that “anything” means just heading out somewhere and giving fliers out to the residents of Jupiter, Florida? There is inevitably going to be some very messed-up stuff that we will end up seeing on this show … and we wouldn’t personally have it it any other way.
