‘The X Factor’ notes: Simon Cowell, Fifth Harmony, and Sam Bailey updates

The latest news -You can complain all you want about the ratings woes of “The X Factor,” but Simon Cowell now has yet another reason to laugh all the way to the bank. The latest data has come in from the album charts in the UK, and the show’s most-recent winner in Sam Bailey has come out on top. Her disc “The Power of Love” sold 73,000 copies in its first week, which is the most for an artist in their first week this year so far.

We do not envision Bailey as someone who will struggle to sell albums, as her real trials and tribulations are going to come with both getting on the radio and keeping herself current in the months and years that follow her participation on the show. It’s a similar sort of struggle that Susan Boyle faced for the most part when it comes to her music career.

As for some other highlights…

A “no” to Louis Walsh? – Simon Cowell reportedly told OK! that while he wants to have another season with Louis as a judge moving forward, Cheryl Cole is not nearly as keen on the idea. Louis and Cheryl have a history that goes back to the early days of Girls Aloud, and despite having a working relationship in the past, there still could be conflict.

There is still plenty of time for a panel to be revealed, so we cannot imagine there being much of a hurry on anyone’s part to confirm who is joining Simon and Cheryl. You are more likely to get an official answer come June.

Demi Lovato, pie victim – The former judge on the US show obviously thought that it would be fun to bring Fifth Harmony on tour with her, and maybe it was for the most part. However, there was still no defense for an unplanned pie in the face. Dinah Jane Hansen of the girl group shared the video on Instagram of her prank, and we gotta give Demi credit for keeping it together. We don’t know if we could do that so well.
