‘Agents of SHIELD’ spoilers: Meet the show’s Blackout
For those of you who complained at the start of Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” that the connection to the source material was a little bit weak, we have to hope that you are enjoying the journey a little bit more now than you perhaps were then. You had an appearance from Lady Sif, Joss Wehdon fans can celebrate the arrival of Amy Acker, and now, you have an arc featuring Blackout.
Patrick Brennan of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part II),” has been cast to play the part of this villain from the Marvel universe. Speaking in an interview on the comic company’s official website, he did his part to tease a little bit of what we can expect:
“This is the way they explained it to me: This guy, Marcus Daniels, a.k.a. Blackout, was shrouded in darkness, his soul, everything about him was shrouded in darkness until he comes across this Cello player (Acker) … And the music was the only light that came into his soul, and it gave him hope and it gave him some sense of what light was.”
Blackout should be a part of the show’s storyline for at least two episodes, which is good news, as well, for those who thought in the early going that things were a little bit too procedural. We hope next season the show adopts more of an “Arrow” philosophy, where the ratio of serialized stories to mission-of-the-week ones are split at least a little bit more down the middle.
