‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10, episode 18 video: Patrick Dempsey’s Derek tries too hard

Thursday night’s “Grey’s Anatomy” episode “You Be Illin'” is going to feature a medical crisis at the center of it … but before you say “go figure,” this is something different than the typical sort of crisis that you see on the show. This one impacts the doctors.

Patrick Dempsey’s Derek is front and center for this particular crisis, and given what he has going on with his research right now, that is super-unfortunate. He is seen falling over in the sneak peek below, but acts almost like the black knight in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” determined to battle on regardless of however stupid it may be.

We don’t really feel like that is going to work out for him … at all. As a matter of fact, we know that Jackson is someone else who is also going to be going through some of the same problems during this story. This could in the end lead to the hospital getting somewhat short-staffed, which in turn is a significant problem that we have seen on the show a number of times  in the past.

In the end, we just hope that this story for Derek really goes somewhere, since it’s been somewhat hard to grasp onto ever since the show came back from hiatus. Maybe part of the reason for that is just because in between April and Jackson and Cristina’s decisions, there have just been a few things happening as of late that were a little bit flashier, and therefore easier to discuss.
