‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Go behind the scenes with Beck Bennett, Kyle Mooney
Before you tune in to tonight’s new “Saturday Night Live” episode, why not have a little bit of fun behind the scenes with a couple of the newest members of the cast? Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett themselves are still in the process of calling the show home, given that they have only been there for this season.
In a way, though, that is what makes the new behind-the-scenes video from NBC a little more fun: It’s a newcomers’ perspective in working on the show, and also shows just how much time it really takes to start filling up your office with random stuff. The two parties share an office together, which works so well for a pair of reasons:
1. They work together for most of those pre-taped sketches that you see every week.
2. The two have similar comedy backgrounds, and have been friends for an extremely long time.
Hopefully, this is a precursor to seeing more of the two guys on the show itself. Typically, the way it works with most new cast members is that their first season is spent with them mostly trying out ideas in the writers room and working as background players in other sketches. It is typically around the end of the season and the start of the next one where you start to see that expand a little bit, and they have some larger roles. Some of that has already happened, and it will be interesting to see how much airtime they get in tonight’s show hosted by Louis C.K., his second time on the show. Thanks to his pedigree and also that it has been a while since the last new episode, expectations are probably a little higher than usual.
