‘Downton Abbey’ season 5 spoilers: Richard E. Grant posts first look from set

Times are changing yet again at “Downton Abbey” for season 5, and this of course includes the arrival of a multitude of new faces at the famed establishment for the first time.

One of these actors? Recent “Girls” guest star Richard E. Grant, who shared the attached photo here via his Twitter account. Grant, like many of the other actors on the series right now, are all hard at work making sure that the fifth season lives up to expectations. There were those who found season 4 a tad boring, and hopefully he can help to spice things up. What we know about his character right now is that his name is Simon Bricker, and is an art historian who is going to find his way to the Abbey just in time to create all sorts of chaos at the Abbey. Hopefully, this means either stirring up conflict, or allowing us to know a thing or two about the established characters that we have known to date. We can at least say that he is someone with a history with the entire Crawley clan.

The majority of the regular “Downton Abbey” cast is back for the new season, which started up production earlier in the year throughout the United Kingdom. It’s an extensive gig that takes around six months to complete, but the irony there is that this is still a less time-consuming gig than being a star on the majority of the shows airing in America. It is also one that in the case of Grant, allows him to be a part of history. Some of the regulars don’t get that many opportunities to actually be at Highclere Castle, since the servants’ quarters are actually a stage at a studio.
