‘True Blood’ season 7: Joe Manganiello’s post-show project will be…
With “True Blood” ending this summer after seven seasons on the air, it really is not any surprise that most of the cast is already doing what they can in order to line up some other jobs. Alexander Skarsgard has that new “Tarzan” movie that he is starring in, Carrie Preston has a variety of new opportunities, and there is pilot season looming out there. It may be hard for some of them to take part in it this year since season 7 is still shooting, but they should have plenty of chances at this point next year.
For one cast member in Joe Manganiello, he has prioritized his next big project after the end of the show as a feature film. Specifically, we are talking about the long-awaited sequel to “Magic Mike.” Speaking in a new interview with Collider, he confirms that he will be reprising the role of Richie (you know the rest of his name already if you saw the first film) at some point in the fall:
“Yeah, it’s gonna happen this fall. I think they’re going to announce it soon. It’s crazy. I didn’t think that would be my first franchise. I never thought that would ever be the direction of my career. But that said, it’s just proof that I don’t know best, all the time. It was the most fun I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to get back in and mix it up with those guys.”
Manganiello does have a pretty interesting future ahead for him in that he can do action films (such as “Sabotage,” which is out now), but he can also do a variety of other genres like comedy. We wouldn’t be surprised that if he returns to TV at some point, it is more in that genre than as another tough-guy who happens to take his clothes off a ton.
