‘The Originals’ spoilers: A little more reflection on Claire Holt’s Rebekah

For most diehard fans of “The Originals,” we understand that it must still be sad that Rebekah is not on the show anymore. After long suffering at the hands of Klaus, she took off earlier this season, and at the time, the overtures were that Claire Holt had chosen to leave the show for the time being.

At PaleyFest, the good news for Rebekah fans was that Claire was interested in coming back to the show at some point, but simply wanted some time to spend with loved ones and people who she had not had an opportunity to see in some time. Now, executive producer Julie Plec is echoing Holt’s desire to return at some point in a new interview with TVLine:

“We’ll get the postcards from Kansas, and we’ll for sure see her again, God willing … I don’t think it’s the last we’ve seen of Rebekah. It was just time for her to say goodbye and drive off into the proverbial sunset.”

Judging from the way in which Plec and Holt speak, we would be very shocked if she was to surface again at some point this season … even if it would be a great surprise to be made at some point during the season finale. Her exit is obviously going to do things to further along and manipulate the relationship between Klaus and Elijah, and that is something that we are interested in seeing the show explore most of the rest of the way this season.
