‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10, episode 18 preview: Patrick Dempsey’s Derek faces illness

The latest -Next week’s “Grey’s Anatomy” episode is entitled “You Be Illin’,” and just when you hear that alone, you know that there is going to be trouble. But specifically in this case, what we know is that it could be impacting Patrick Dempsey’s Derek in a big way.

Given everything that is already on this guy’s plate, this is probably the last thing that he really needs to have happen to him. However, he is having to deal with it regardless whatever he actually wants. Before we do anything else, be sure to check out the synopsis below:

“The hospital gets inundated with flu infected patients, which causes the doctors to slowly fall ill one by one. Derek must fight off the sickness as he prepares to give a speech on brain mapping and the residents place bets on who will fall ill first. Meanwhile, a new doctor at the hospital gives Alex a glimpse into an alternate form of medical practice.”

The promo below also makes it clear that Jackson is also someone suffering, and his condition looks to be a little more severe. Is this severely bad news? We wouldn’t worry yet, given that we’ve heard nothing about Jesse Williams leaving the show. As for Derek, Dempsey is under contract for a couple more seasons now thanks to a recent deal. There is nothing to worry about here at all in the long-term, but in the short-term there is reason for concern from all angles.
