‘Sons of Anarchy,’ ‘Low Winter Sun’ writer-producer joins ‘Walking Dead’ spin-off
Remember when there was news about a “Walking Dead” spin-off show? At this time, it feels like it was practically forever ago. With this series not planning to hit the airwaves at AMC until 2015, there has not been that big of a concern for the network or the producers to really talk about the idea yet publicly. But know that there is work being done to further along the series, and the latest news confirms that.
AMC has confirmed that Dave Erickson, who was recently on their short-lived “Low Winter Sun” and before that was a writer / co-executive producer on “Sons of Anarchy” from 2008-2011, has been brought onto the “Walking Dead” spin-off as a co-writer and executive producer. This gives the series another experienced TV veteran who knows how to make quality programming, and has also worked with some of the top people in cable.
Despite the new hire, there is still no timetable on when there will be some more announcements on the series. A reasonable bet could be either some post-mortem interviews following Sunday’s finale, “Talking Dead” Sunday night (which is featuring Andrew Lincoln live on the show), or possibly even Comic-Con, given how many networks have chosen this over time to be the perfect place to drop a bombshell or two.
All we know about this spin-off for now is that Robert Kirkman is very much involved in it, and he has said already that he is very excited about the opportunity to be able to create a new world that is separate from his comics, and be able to explore all sorts of great avenues with that.
We will of course have more to share here as it becomes available. For now, be sure to share your thoughts below, and head over here if you want to have some more great updates on all the shows we cover shipped right to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
