‘How I Met Your Mother’ series finale: Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders give thanks

Last Forever -How I Met Your Mother” and CBS are really rolling out all of the sentimentality leading up to the show’s series finale on Monday night. There are videos and tributes popping up all across the vast landscape that we like to call the internet, and this latest one focuses all of the stars stopping by to utter various forms of the same two simple words: “Thank you.”

Everyone from Josh Radnor (Ted) to Neil Patrick Harris (Barney) to Cobie Smulders (Robin) to even new series regular Cristin Milioti (The Mother) all make an appearance, and share some of their own reflections on what it has been like being a part of the show. Neil mentions that he has seemingly had people give him high-fives on the street just because of Barney, and Josh says that he has been approached by “How I Met Your Mother” fans even in South America and parts of Africa. It is a global hit, and one that has reached a global audience.

One of the interesting things to us is going to be seeing how many casual fans and viewers tune in to the hour-long series finale on Monday night, given that there must be a whole legion of people curious, even if they haven’t watched every episode, about how Ted ends up meeting the mother, and why he is telling this story to his kids. All indications (at least based on what has been said out there) suggest that there is an ending to this tale that will satisfy the majority of fans, even if it does also make them at least somewhat emotional.

Our “How I Met Your Mother” coverage is not going to be slowing down anytime soon, and one of the other things to be on the watch for next is a list of some of our favorite episodes that you must go back and watch before the finale.
