‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 2 spoilers: About the new Captain
On the first season of “Sleepy Hollow,” Ichabod and Abbie over time started to discover that they had an unlikely but very welcome ally in Captain Irving. This was a guy who knew and trusted Abbie, and eventually came to realize that everything she was saying was true. He also understand that there was so much value in keeping quiet about everything that they uncovered. The last thing that he wanted to do was have this information reach the public and incite panic.
Unfortunately, the trouble that our two intrepid heroes face now on the series moving forward is that they don’t have a captain to get advice from anymore. Irving has left the building after taking the fall for a crime he didn’t even commit, and his replacement in Sleepy Hollow is not going to be someone everyone else gets behind so easily. For more on that, just take a look at what show executive producer Len Wiseman said in a TV Guide interview:
“[The news boss is] somebody who is not in support of Abbie and Crane … They’re going to find themselves in a tricky spot again with the department.”
One thing that does come out of this arrangement being this way is something that is important to almost the success of any show: Getting the opportunity to constantly feel like it is us against the world. You never want to feel like the heroes are going to have too easy a time doing anything. While we say this, there is also a pretty huge part of us that wishes that Orlando Jones was back on the force again … especially now that we have somehow just learned that he was the guy in the “Make 7 Up Yours” commercials.
