‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5, episode 17 video: Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev back at school

Is “The Vampire Diaries” about to begin another terrifying journey back into high school for Elena? Luckily, no. Instead, the show is finally going to address the fact that one of their major characters is still technically in school, and therefore does still have to be looked after.

Therefore, the sneak peek video below from Thursday’s “Rescue Me” is all about Elena and Damon, which still coming off the high of their latest steamy hookup, having to sit down for what is a parent-teacher conference over Elena’s little brother. This is what it has come to: A responsible parent on this show being a woman that is only slightly older that her little brother, who very recently had an evil doppelganger named Katherine trapped in her body until she was whisked away presumably to where all bad vampires go.

The part of this clip that further makes this interesting (save for if you just like seeing Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev in the same scene together) is the speculation around whether or not we are going to see Jeremy lose Bonnie again. Damon informs her of his concerns after seeing the guy with a certain new apprentice of Bonnie’s (who is not really her apprentice at all), and Elena claims that he would “never” do anything to hurt her. That’s when Damon reminds her of Anna, and makes a wonderful “Ghost” reference that proves that even undead vampires still love to enjoy movies and pop-culture.
