This is turning out to be quite the big day when it comes to “American Horror Story.” First, we hear that that the subtitle for the new batch of episodes (which will premiere on FX a little later this year) is going to be “Freak Show.” Now, we’ve found out a few more details about who is confirmed to be a part of the cast this time around.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the likes of Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy are all going to be major characters on the show this season as “freaks” who all are a part of a show operated by Jessica Lange’s character, a German ex-pat who is trying to keep the spirit of these shows alive in the 1950s. We said before the season that our dream was to see Paulson play the villain / some sort of monster to give her something a little bit different to do. This may not be close at all, but we will have to wait and see when more details are released.
Also, both Denis O’Hare and Emma Roberts are also in talks to return, and given their history with the show, we have every reason to believe that they will be back. We’ll do a separate article soon on some of the former actors who we would loves to see on the show again, but we would be very thrilled if at some point Zachary Quinto or Lance Reddick get another opportunity to stop by. Lily Rabe and Gabourey Sidibe are each working on new pilots, so their participation will be limited … if at all.
The setting of the freak show will be Jupiter, Florida, and the characters will be so desperate to keep their business going that they will resort to great lengths. That sounds exciting, no? It will be even more exciting if they ignore the clown cliche completely and go with more creative sources of fear.
