‘The Originals’ episode 18 preview: Is Daniel Gillies’ Elijah starting to lose it?

The Vampire Diaries, Daniel GilliesTime and time again when it comes to “The Originals,” you have seen various scenes play out where Elijah is the “good guy” where Klaus is more of the “villain.” It is so easy, after all, to attach labels to these two guys based on what we have seen of them.

However, the tide is starting to turn, and we see that more than ever before in the latest sneak peek below from Tuesday night’s new episode. In this, Daniel Gillies’ character starts to show signs of his armor cracking as he informs his brother (Joseph Morgan) that he will no longer stand by and continue to bend to his will or care for what he wants at all. Rather, he is just going to take things as he sees fit. This comes after a pretty violent moment where there are questions as to whether or not Elijah cares for Klaus’ unborn child.

We’re never one to say that Klaus is an honorable man by any means, but it does feel like he is doing a fairly honorable thing by trying to ensure that he is able to get to know the werewolf side of his family a little bit more. This is a part of his history that he shunned for a thousand years, and he now has an opportunity to learn more about it. When you remember that his child is actually going to be more werewolf than vampire, this is something that probably is very important for him to study up on.
