‘NCIS’ season 11 spoilers: ‘Lie to Me’ alum to guest-star in important episode

More news -NCIS” is on the heels now of airing their first part of their “New Orleans” backdoor pilot, but what we are here to discuss a little bit more about today is an episode coming up that is going to address a series issue happening in the military: Sexual assault.

According to TVLine, Kelli Williams (whose credits include “Lie to Me” and “Army Wives”) is set to play the part of an NCIS agent in an episode that will air following both the two-part pilot and the episode following that. Show boss Gary Glasberg told the site that the episode has been filmed now, and is currently being edited.

It is certainly admirable that the show is taking on a modern issue that needs to be further exposed, and obviously the hope is that they treat the subject matter fairly and with respect. We do have confidence that this will be done, mostly because “NCIS” has as a series tackled some difficult things in the past. While you also may have differing opinions at times about individual characters or storylines, they have done a nice job throughout of taking matters related to the military, including modern issues within it, very seriously. They are obviously aware that there are many veterans who watch this series, and also others who simply have a high amount of respect for the institution.

There is obviously the issue of just how much of a story can you tell on a medium as censored as network television, but given that “Law & Order: SVU” managed to do it on a weekly basis, we’re sure the writing will be carefully monitored and catered to the audience.
