‘The Good Wife’ season 5 video: Christine Baranski, Josh Charles, more talk shocker

Good Wife -Before we say goodbye for today to one of the biggest TV shockers of our time, we do have one more video to share all about “The Good Wife’s” big decision to kill off an extremely-popular character. (As you would expect, there are some spoilers ahead.)

In the new video below from CBS, Josh Charles himself sits down and recounts his choice to leave the series after four and a half seasons on board, mostly saying that this is the right move for him both personally and professionally at this point. Originally, his plan was to leave after four seasons to do something else, but he was eventually convinced to play Will Gardner for a little while longer by Julianna Margulies and the show’s producers.

This video does also feature Margulies opening up about how difficult it is for both her and the Alicia character to move forward from this. Alicia was not always on the best terms with Will (this season was a great piece of evidence of that), but the two had an undeniable electricity and chemistry around each other that could not be ignored. Christine Baranski, meanwhile, related it to losing a husband.

Obviously, the show will move on. We’ve already seen the first promo for next week’s episode, just like we’ve already heard that the show will return in the fall for a sixth season. While we know that there are many fans upset and wondering if they should continue viewing the show, we ultimately feel like this move will be a net positive for the series. WIll’s loss may be painful, but this is the most attention that “The Good Wife” has received arguably since its very first year on the air. It is also going down possibly as one of the 50 most-shocking deaths in the history of television.

As always, be sure to share what you think about this twist in the comments below, and you can also sign up for our CarterMatt Newsletter if you are interested in getting some more scoop sent right to your email inbox.
