‘American Horror Story’ season 4 officially ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’

Freak Show -For everyone out there who was desperate to find out just what the exact title of “American Horror Story” season 4 was going to be, now we know: “American Horror Story: Freak Show.”

This news was confirmed today by executive producer Ryan Murphy, who posted the attached image on his Twitter account while making it clear that this was the subtitle for the season. For the time being, we’re writing out “Freak Show” as two words thanks to the way that this image is formatted, but it would not surprise us if it was eventually shorted to “Freakshow.” That looks better to us on the page than two separate words.

This theme is not a surprise at all, given some recent comments from a writer that most of the circus-related rumors for the show were correct. Some of the finer details out there are still a mystery, but Jessica Lange has confirmed to return for her final season on the show. Also, we assume that Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson will also still be around, given that they have joined her as the primary anchors the past three seasons. Whoever Lange is playing, it has forced her to have to learn a German accent.

New episodes of this season will start filming a little later in the spring / early summer, and the new season should premiere on FX this October. The “American Horror Story” franchise is one of the network’s most-successful products, and given that “Sons of Anarchy” is likely ending its run later this fall, the pressure is really going to be on this show to deliver some more consistent success.

What do you think about the new subtitle: Love it, or find it a little too predictable that they are going down the creepy-clown route? Share below, and to get some more updates on all the shows we cover, sign up now for our CarterMatt Newsletter.
