‘House of Lies’ season 3, episode 10 review: Who died in surprise twist?
There have been times on “House of Lies” season 3 where we have felt like the DollaHyde storyline was dragging its feet. A few episodes were spent with negotiations back and forth, and it felt almost as though nothing was actually getting done.
Luckily, things started to change quite a bit with Sunday night’s episode, the strongest of the entire season so far. It was all about business, and presented significant story revelations and comedy at the same time.
Obviously, the main even here is the recovery from the shooting. Who in the world expected to see the murder of Lukas during this episode? We knew that he was a bad man who did terrible things, but the way in which his death was set up was almost perfect. Up until a split second before the guns were fired, we had no idea what was going to happen.
As for some of the other stunners in here, Doug’s attempts to find a new workplace romance completely blew up in her face … much as many Doug plans do. Strangely, we actually still feel like he could turn this around in time, but only because he had genuine feelings somewhere in there … but executed them all around.
The other good moments in here were sprinkled throughout, whether it be Fred Armisen’s cameo as a quick-tempered product owner to Clyde’s complete meltdown when he realized that his latest devious plan was quick to fall apart. We’ve often criticized this show for being a little bit bland, but it was anything but that tonight. Grade: A-.
